John has been a life long
resident of Northern Virginia, with strong ties to local government and community
organizations. He graduated from the University of Richmond in 1972, with honors, as
a Dean's List student with a degree in Economics. Following graduation, he was
employed by General Motors Corporation in Washington, D.C., and later attended law school
at the University of Pittsburgh, under an educational leave from General Motors. He
received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1983, and rather than move to Detroit, resigned
from General Motors, returned to Northern Virginia, and began a career in law as a general
practitioner in Fairfax. He became a partner in the firm of Byrd, Mische, Bevis,
Bowen, Joseph & O'Connor in 1987, and practiced continuously in that capacity until
June 2003 when he started the Bevis Law Offices. He and his wife Beverly have been
married for 32 years and have two grown children. |
